Carol Perrington Pastel Artist
I started drawing at a young age horses, cats, people, and trees and in middle/high school learned basic techniques and skills. I attended college and community art courses, workshops, and open sketch nights for figure drawing. During my career in special education I taught young people art skills in after-school workshops and while teaching learned to see differently! The best instruction I received was at the Rehoboth Beach Art League in Delaware with a pastel artist where I became hooked on dry pastels; soft sticks, hard sticks, pencils, and pan.
Since 2017 I have been using dry pastels after years of sketching with pencils and painting with acrylic. After moving across the country to San Diego with my husband, daughter, and my cat during the 2020 pandemic, we re-connected with my other daughter and her family. I am a caregiver for my young grandsons AND I am focusing on my art. I am an active member of the San Diego Urban Sketchers and the East County Art Association (ECAA) in El Cajon where I have displayed my paintings and conducted several pastel workshops. The North County Art Gallery, San Diego County Fair Fine Arts Exhibitions, and Bonita Museum/Art Gallery as well as Ashton Gallery at Art on 30th have all accepted my art for display and I have been recognized by ECAA and the County Fair judges with awards. The beautiful trails, vistas, and sunsets of San Diego; my grandsons; pets; and local plants, fruit, and flowers have become my focus for painting. I enjoy sharing my art with others.
Grateful for the encouragement of my mother, my husband, and my daughters as well as fellow ECAA members, I will continue my artistic growth and just paint! [email protected] #perrington.carol and #carolperrington#eastcountyartassociation
